Lets know  a little about Search Engine

Archie was the first search tool  created in 1990 by Alm Emtage, Bill Heelan and J.Peter Detsh which  provided mere reference to the website  and did not index the contents of the site. After this the world’s first web robot  Wandex was launched  which happen to be  successful in crawling the www. With pace of time many more came in like Aliweb, Jumpstation, Lycos,  Yahoo etc.  and  then Google search engine revolutionized the way people searched the web. This search engine tool launched in 1998 and named after their developer Larry page and Sergey Brin won the hearts  of  the searchers.

Larry Page created an algorithm called Page Rank which ranked the websites according to the popularity of backlinks which linked to them. The rank is based on the relevancy and popularity of the website and Google has been successful in providing its user the most relevant search results matching the search query.

Major Search Engines are :

Google :Google holds more than 75%  of the market share in the search engine industry.

Baidu  :It is a Chinese language search engine website accounting for 7%  of the market share.

Yahoo :It is the 3^RD  popular serch engine  account for 6% of the markets share.

Bing : 4^th in the world account for 4 % of the market share.
